Join us for a wonderful evening with CB Anderson as she reads from and discusses her work. Anderson is one of the featured authors of this summer’s Read ME.

River Talk, “Anderson’s debut story collection features the mill towns of Maine and their denizens… Though Anderson’s settings are similar, she introduces a range of people—from Korean War veterans to Somali refugees—each carefully crafted, each bearing a measure of dignity.”
- Publisher’s Weekly

Join us in celebrating Read ME, a statewide adult summer reading program, with special Maine events all summer long.

What is Read ME?
Read ME is a statewide program presented in partnership between the Maine Humanities Council and the Maine State Library with more than 60 participating libraries, including Lithgow. It gets Maine’s adults all reading the same books—by Maine authors and recommended by a Maine author. This summer Paul Doiron chose CB Anderson’s River Talk and Susan Hand Shetterly’s Settled in the Wild: Notes from the Edge of Town.

The featured books are available to borrow at the library. See our website for details about each event or call us for more information. All events are free and open to the public. You do not need to be a Newport Cultural Center member or pre-register to attend.
