HPC WORKSHOPS

 

The Historical Preservation Committee members volunteer their time to help preserve Newport’s historical collection.  Our work projects may vary, but currently we are working on the following.

 

  •  Inventorying artifacts:  documenting items and recording into our Past Perfect software program.
  • Inventorying photographs:  identifying, documenting, recording and preserving in our collection.
  • Processing incoming donations.
  • Changing exhibits quarterly.

Play and Learn Play Group

An opportunity for young children to play and learn with their parents, caregivers and other children.

3rd Thursday of every month with Melanie from Family Matters.

Vaping…Not Just Harmless Water Vapor?

Vaping Presentation… What does the science say?

Please join Tobacco Experts, Roxane Dubay and Lisa Dunning from Bangor Public Health & Community Services for an informational session about VAPING!

Is it safe? Should I be worried if my teen is vaping? What do I do if I think that my teen is vaping.

These are just a few of the topics that will be covered, don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about the vaping crisis facing our youth and to get your questions answered.

Hartland-based author Bette A. Stevens will showcase her latest release—My Maine, Haiku through the Seasons

The collection also includes symbols and interesting facts about Maine.

Writing Class

Love to write or would you like to try? Seasoned author Gloria Powell has led workshops, written newspaper articles, books, and has won numerous awards. Come join the fun! Bring a brief piece to read to our first meeting on September 14th from 11 to 1 at the Newport Cultural Center. This program is open to all!
