Historical Preservation Committee Workshop

The Historical Preservation Committee members volunteer their time to help preserve Newport’s historical collection.  Our work projects may vary, but currently we are working on the following.

 

  •  Inventorying artifacts:  documenting items and recording into our Past Perfect software program.
  • Inventorying photographs:  identifying, documenting, recording and preserving in our collection.
  • Processing incoming donations.
  • Changing exhibits quarterly.

Author Mira Ptacin – ‘In-Betweens’

Newport Cultural Center present Mira Ptacin speaking about her new book, “The In-Betweens: The Spiritualists, Mediums, and Legends of Camp Etna.” The book is a haunting account of the women of Camp Etna–an otherworldly community in the woods of Maine that has, since 1876, played host to generations of spiritualists and mediums dedicated to preserving the links between the mortal realm and the afterlife. She will answer questions from the audience and sign copies of her book. Light refreshments will be available
